Battle Ground was plotted in 1824 and named for the nearby battlefield. On November 7, 1811 General William Henry Harrison defeated a confederation of Indians, under the leadership of Shawnee Tecumseh. In 1915 the depot was a frame type and served the railroad until it was closed on September 1, 1960.
