1: The former depot location. Looking south from County Road 1200 North crossing. 2: The former siding location. The land is still used by the railroad, the silver shack in the background is a detector. Looking south towards Louisville. 3: Milepost 54. Pretty self-explanatory. Looking north towards Chicago. 4: An old signal mounting (Signal 53.5?) on the west side of the tracks a bit before the bridge. 5: Also the remains of Signal 53.5, on the east side of the tracks. 6: There were these abandoned foundations on the east side of tracks, a bit before the bridge. The whistle post is for Westwood Drive across the river, so you can get the exact location from that. 7: A close up off the bigger foundation. If you want to locate these on Google Maps, look for the big black square hole in the ground. 8: There was a smaller foundation just north of the big one in Pic 7. If anyone would like to claim these as being Water Valley, I will specify that they are on the south side of the river. 9: The Kankakee River bridge. Looking north towards Chicago. See also Pics 7 and 8 in the Shelby picture set. 10: Taken from the County Road 1200 North crossing. Looking north towards Chicago. 11: The County Road 1200 North crossing. Looking south towards Louisville. 12: Taken from the State Road 55 crossing. Looking north towards Chicago. 13: The State Road 55 crossing. Looking south towards Louisville. |
