Pic 1: The original Hammond depot was a triangular limestone structure north of Sibley Street. I am standing approximately in the middle of the Sibley Street wall, looking north.

Pic 2: This building was torn down in 1954, with the opening of the new joint Erie station south of here. This view would have been of the trackside wall, taken from the platform of the original Erie station across the tracks.

Pic 3: This is the approximate location of the south end of the platform at the newer joint Erie station at Douglas Street. The green area left of the dirt is where the building was. Looking north towards Chicago.

Pic 4: This is approximately the north end of the joint Erie station platform. The ROW all the way through Hammond is one extended construction site for the NICTD's new West Lake Corridor, so this was as close as I could get. Looking south towards Louisville.

Pic 5: This is approximately where the station building was. This station opened in 1953 as a joint station with the Erie. Looking at what would have been the southwest corner of the building.

Pic 6: Near the joint Erie station location are piles and piles and piles of new ties for the West Lake Corridor project.

Pic 7: This is the approximate location of the switch to the Erie interchange track. This track also served as the spur to Rand McNally. Looking south towards Louisville.

Pic 8: The original grading of the interchange track is still visible here. It just barely squeezed between these two buildings. Looking away from the mainline.

Pic 9: Taken from the Erie interchange track Harrison Avenue crossing. Looking towards the mainline.
