1: As of now, this is the northern end of the Hoosier Sub, just south of Yockey Road. For how long is anyone's guess. Looking north towards Chicago. 2: The rails were clearly removed recently, but I saw no signs of active work being done anywhere around Sand Pit. Make of that what you will. Looking south towards Louisville. 3: Someone forgot to pick up these two ties, and in doing so, gave away the location of the passing siding north switch. Looking south towards Louisville. 4: There are piles of ties and tie plates scattered up and down the ROW. This specific pile of ties is just north of the passing siding north switch. 5: And just south of the north switch is the accompanying pile of tie plates. 6: The fact that Milepost 251 is still standing provides an excellent excuse to show the general state of the ROW. Looking north towards Chicago. 10: In 2010, Bridge 250.0 was damaged by an arsonist, and was never repaired. Looking south towards Louisville. 11: A close up of the fire damage on Bridge 250.0. While the bridge is still sturdy enough to walk up to the burn, I would not recommend walking all the way across. 12: Taken from the Sand Pit Road crossing.
