1: This is what remains of the depot. In other words, nothing. Looking south towards Monon. 2: Well, not quite nothing. The Wanatah Historical Society has put together a nice display at the depot location, commemorating the Lincoln Funeral Train. Looking north towards Michigan City. 3: This sign explains the backstory of the site. 4: The centerpiece of the display is this caboose. Despite having the Monon logo painted on the side, its actual identity is NKP1090. 5: In addition to the giant painted Monon logo, these plates are also mounted on the sides. 6: A selection of signals and signs. I believe the signal on the left is ex-South Shore Line. 7: The last part of the display is a couple more signs and a relay box. The crossbuck is ex-Norfolk Southern. 8: The location of the MON-PRR interchange track. You can see where the edge of the ROW was in the fence line. Looking towards the PRR Main Line. 9: Taken from the MON-PRR diamond location. This is where the Monon crossed the PRR Main Line. Looking south towards Monon. 10: MON-PRR diamond location. Imagine a T1 or a K4 racing through here. Looking north towards Michigan City. 11: The interlocking tower was located in the northwest quadrant of the crossing. Nothing much left except for the one area without grass. Looking west. 12: There's a piece of metal embedded in some concrete embedded in the ground. While I'm not sure exactly what this was, I'm certain it was a part of the interlocking. 13: The grain elevator appears to still be active. In fact, this may be the original loading pipe, given how rusty and trackside it is. 14: The remains of Bridge A40.6 crossed Hog Creek north of Wanatah. Looking north towards Michigan City. 15: Taken from the South County Road 1050 West crossing on the south outskirts of Wanatah.
